At University of Utah Health (U Health), the 30% growth in the last five years has been supported by strong strategic plans. Their 2025 Digital Themes, encompassing health & care, ecosystem, experience, disruption, and empowerment, have been built upon a digital architecture foundation. In order to move forward, U Health has identified three areas of focus: cloud maturity, interoperability and automation.

Jim Livingston, CTO of U Health, explains that “Where we’re going long-term with digital health is very complex so our key enablers have to be strong. We want to make the user experience better, more integrated and enabled via technology, and we also want stronger automation that enables new capabilities and faster deployments.” In order to do this, U Health has created a Centers of Excellence framework.
