Shenny Sheth
Shenny Sheth serves the post of first, formal Deputy CISO with Cyber Services oversight for Centura Health—a Joint Commission accredited healthcare system headquartered in Colorado. A career executive for 18+ years Shenny has held progressively successful cybersecurity officer roles beginning with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission CISO, a deputy CISO with nation’s 3rd best Texas Children’s Hospital system, and most recently in Asst. Vice President role charged with digital transformation, information security and privacy responsibility at the UNUM Group—a fortune 267th ranked global financial and insurance company.
Shenny tailored $2M-$24M cybersecurity programs for large enterprises (2007-2020) in both the public and private sectors. He rapidly adopted frameworks to implement foundational controls using OpEx and lifecycle dollars during initial 1-6 month period. Then sought capital dollars to fund and execute 2-5 year cybersecurity roadmaps, reducing overall risk by 70-90%.
During his service with the State of Texas (2007-2015) Shenny responded to numerous data exposures, audit findings and citizen data privacy concerns addressing each in coordination with internal and external partners. He led large Cyber Incident Command and reported into the State Emergency Operations Center. He thoroughly documented vulnerabilities, conducted penetration testing, prescribed ad-hoc controls and bridged process breakdown by applying emergency funds and advisory support. He furnished After Action Report complete with guidance for other agencies, the Commission and the State Auditor’s Office. Shenny learned concepts of Enterprise Risk Management, accounted for technology limitations and refreshed cybersecurity program commensurate with information growth projection and risk appetite.
President-elect of the 39th Session of Austin Citizen Police Academy (1999), Shenny is certified by the Center for Infrastructure Assurance and Security (CIAS) – University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) in Cyberterrorism and Community Cyber Security (2009) and FEMA Emergency Management’s NIMS Incident Command System training. Further, Shenny holds Excellence in Leadership certificate from the Texas Governor’s Center for Management Development – LBJ School of Public Affairs – University of Texas at Austin (2000).
Shenny is recipient of the 2015 Cybersecurity Partnership Award from the Texas HHS Information Security Officers’ Council. He’s a member of the Millennium Alliance Transformational CISO Assembly and regularly speaks to large audiences publicly. He serves in the FBI InfraGard and contributes to industry groups such as the CIO Forum, Physician Leaders Transforming Healthcare, HMG Digital Forum for C-level Executives, and the Center for Digital Transformation at UC Irvine.
Shenny has outstanding working experience, active professional relationships with executive stakeholders as well as current knowledge of the civic government departments and processes at the federal, state, county and city levels in Washington, D.C., Texas, Tennessee, Louisiana, and California.
Married to his wife for 25 years Shenny is a Texan for life! Their two sons are graduates from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Rice University at Houston, TX, respectively. One has taken the path to become a scientist serving bio-pharma industry, and the other is completing medical school education (MD, class of ’25) at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, TX.
