Luis Saldaña, MD, MBA, FACEP

Dr. Saldaña is the Vice President, Clinical Strategy, for Zynx Health, a division of Hearst Health. Previously Dr. Saldana was the Chief Medical Informatics Officer for LogicStream, and earlier in his career he served as CMIO at Texas Health Resources (THR) where he led the application of key technologies, such as the electronic health record system, to drive optimal care within the Arlington-based health system. He was also responsible for ensuring clinical data was leveraged to improve patient care and operational efficiency.

Dr. Saldaña was named by Becker’s Healthcare as one of “32 CMIOs to Know” and recognized as one of 25 CMIOs to know by Health Data Management.

A frequent presenter at national forums on Healthcare Informatics and Clinical Decision Support, Dr. Saldana has been involved nationally in Performance Improvement, EHR and Clinical Decision Support initiatives; he co-authored the HIMSS book of the year, “Improving Outcomes with Clinical Decision Support: An Implementer’s Guide”, which has been widely recognized as a definitive reference for CDS best practices; and he was an Associate Editor of the HIMSS book, “Improving Medication Use and Outcomes with Clinical Decision Support.”

Dr. Saldaña is a graduate of University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, and received his MBA from Southern Methodist University’s Cox Business School. He is an Emergency Physician who practiced in the ED for 30 years, is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians, and holds an appointment as Adjunct Professor of Healthcare Leadership and Management at the Jindal School of Management, University of Texas.
