Gianna Zuccotti, MD, MPH serves as the Vice President, Digital Health Transformation and Chief Medical Information Officer at Partners Healthcare System where she works at the intersection of Partners Information Systems, Quality Safety Value and Population Health Management with direct responsibility for the development and delivery of an electronic health record that supports diverse care and business needs in a reliable, safe and efficient manner.

Dr. Zuccotti has a long-standing interest in applying information technology to identify and facilitate improvements in patient care, physician workflow, quality and safety. She joined Partners in May 2008 as the Senior Medical Informatician for Patient Safety and Risk Management at Partners IS and Associate Medical Director for Risk Management Informatics at the Harvard Risk Management Foundation (CRICO/RMF). This position allowed her to leverage strengths in quality and medical administration in the burgeoning field of medical informatics.  In a relatively short period of time, she established research and clinical collaborations, obtained intra- and extramural research support, and became an integral member of many Partners Performance Improvement initiatives.

In her current this role she manages a complex team of Physicians, Nurses, Health Professionals and Project Managers involved the content development, maintenance and optimization activities for the health system’s enterprise electronic medical record. She also oversees Partners’ Health Information Management (HIM) department and associated data services. Her research interests focus on informatics initiatives designed to improve patient safety and mitigate risk. Such initiatives have included physician documentation, clinical workflow, results management, decision making and care coordination, among others. Dr.  Zuccotti remains an active member of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Institute, specializing in infections in oncology patients and hematopoietic stem cell and solid organ transplant recipients.

Originally from New York City, Dr. Zuccotti trained at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical College in Internal Medicine and at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Infectious Disease. She served as the Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs in the Department of Medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, as well as Assistant Director of Infection Control. On a national level she is active as a Medical Editor.  Since 1999, she has been an Editor at The Medical Letter, a biweekly medical newsletter devoted to publishing independent, unbiased reviews of newly-approved drugs. Currently as Executive Editor, she guides content development, technology implementation and strategic planning for the publication.  In addition, she is a past Contributing Editor with expertise in Infectious Diseases at the Journal of the American Medical Association.
