Carina Edwards
Carina Edwards is the CEO of Quil, the digital health joint venture of Comcast NBCUniversal and Independence Blue Cross.
Bridging the natural silos between providers, payors and employers, and empowering individuals and their caregivers, Quil is a health engagement company offering a portfolio of digital-forward engagement solutions that address the distinctneeds of the providers and payors of health, and arm patients and their caregivers with all the knowledge and encouragement they need to optimize their health experience.
A strong leader with a history of success in creating new products, transforming organizations and engendering customer loyalty at dynamic organizations including Imprivata, Nuance, Zynx Health, and Philips Healthcare, Carina has dedicated her career to leveraging technology to improve health outcomes, minimize risk and reduce costs.
From procedural journeys like hip replacement and ENT surgery to life events like birth/maternity, to aging in home, Quil’s ability to meet individuals ‘where they are’ – in preferred digital forums from smartphone, tablet, to TV – drives meaningfully better individual and caregiver engagement in partnership with their providers and payors. While healthier individuals and better healthcare experiences are the goals, payor and provider-side impacts include lower healthcare costs, more productive workplaces and better physician economics in value-based care environments. Early results include reduced readmission rates (26%), improved discharge to home rates (19%) and reduction in length-of-stay (15%).
