Dr. Bonny Chen recently joined Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) as its new chief health informatics officer. Prior, Chen most recently served as Ascension’s vice president and chief medical IS officer and also held leadership roles at AdventHealth and AMITA Health in Chicago, including chief medical officer and chief health information officer. Since 2013, she has also been an international surveyor for The Joint Commission, assisting hospitals worldwide in improving processes, patient safety and quality of care. Further, Chen was as an attending emergency medicine attending physician for nearly 20 years, serving at AMITA hospitals and as the chief medical officer at Adventist Hinsdale and La Grange Hospitals. She earned her undergraduate degree and MD at the University of Michigan, completed her transitional residency year at the University of Hawaii, and her Emergency Medicine residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago.
