April Giard, DNP, MSN, NP-BC, NEA-BC
April is accountable for the overall leadership, transformation, and information management of the Market Performance Partnership (MPP) playing a key role across clinical transformation in multiple health systems. In her role she will be leading efforts to stabilize, standardize, and drive consistency across MPP Informatic teams, increasing the ability to scale and take on new clients, make healthcare more affordable through lower operating costs and ensuring skillsets are maximized.
Dr. Giard has over 34 years in healthcare, both in direct patient care as an NP and over the past 20+ years serving in various executive leadership roles. As a practitioner, Dr. Giard has always approached every role with the patient and care team at the center. In addition to her clinical and information technology background, she has developed a national recognition as a leader in informatics, IT, and healthcare leadership, inspiring other leaders to imagine new ways to integrate technology with the delivery of accessible and high- quality care.
April has led a highly integrated team focused on digital transformational change, which provides a seamless, user-friendly consumer experience that would differentiate the Northern Light Health Brand. Together, they improved access to care by giving patients digital platforms to engage with Northern Light care teams at a time and place that was convenient for them. Patient experience was improved by engaging patients early in their care while staying connected post-discharge and by providing the digital tools to conveniently schedule appointments at a time that was convenient for them.
She is equally focused on the improved employee experience and efficiencies by optimizing numerous electronic health record workflows, applying Artificial Intelligence to reduce the cognitive burden and cost of care. This led to outcomes of reduced duplicate documentation and streamline workflows which allows clinicians to focus primarily on their patient.
Focused on using data to proactively drive performance across organizations, to not only better manage their healthcare and be connected to community resources, but also deploying at elbow support to help them adopt new, more efficient workflows. In 2023 Northern light Health received its 2nd HIMSS Davies Award of Excellence, which showcases healthcare organizations that demonstrate globally innovative, thoughtful applications of information and technology to drive and redefine evidence-based best practices so that others can learn, adapt and improve population health and patient outcomes.
