
David Kirkus, PharmD
David Kirkus is Director of Pharmacy Administration at Publix Super Markets, a privately owned and operated Fortune 100 grocery chain with 2017 sales of $34.6 billion. Publix operates more than 1,100 stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.
Kirkus was named Director of Pharmacy Administration in 2018. In this role, he is responsible for managed care, procurement, technology, business development and strategy for more than 1,000 Publix Pharmacy locations, including eleven outpatient pharmacies located within hospitals in the state of Florida.
Prior to his current role, Kirkus served as the Director of Pharmacy Strategic Outreach where he developed collaborations to bring innovative patient services into a retail pharmacy setting. In 2017, Kirkus spearheaded an agreement with BayCare Health System, leading to in-store telehealth kiosk services in 25 Publix Pharmacy locations within the greater Tampa Bay area.
Kirkus received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia. He began working for Publix in 2002 as a Pharmacy Manager. In the past 16 years, he led several strategic initiatives resulting in revenue and net profit growth. Kirkus is passionate about finding new ways to meet patient needs while providing premier customer service and pharmaceutical care.
