Bob Whitcomb is Chief Medical Information Officer for Perioperative Medical Informatics at Advocate Aurora Health, headquartered in Oak Brook, IL. He attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison for undergraduate and medical school, before completing residencies in Internal Medicine at Northwestern and Anesthesiology at the University of Chicago. He served as the CMIO for Elmhurst Hospital, Elmhurst, IL for ten years where he led the transition from paper to Meditech, and then worked on the transition to Epic in 2016 after the merger with Edward Hospital. He is board certified in Anesthesiology, Internal Medicine and Clinical Informatics. His interests include perioperative workflows, computer system usability and data analytics to improve the quality of clinical care.
